Years of Success!
In nine years, Rolling Stone Farm has never been to a breed inspection (Hanoverian and Oldenburg) where a Gold Luck foal or offspring out of a Gold Luck daughter wasn’t named as one of the top foals.
1996
Our first foal crop by Gold Luck produced the top placed colt at the MD American Hanoverian Society (AHS) inspection. His name is Ghotcha and he is out of an Armin/Eisenherz mare. The top foal at the PA AHS inspection was a filly by GL out of a Lanthan/Gigant mare. Both were bred by RSF.
1997
The top filly at the SC AHS inspection was by GL and out of a Bordeaux mare. The top colt at the WA AHS inspection was by GL and out of a Pik Solo/TB mare. No top foals were named at the PA AHS inspection this year.
1998
Chosen as one of three top foals at the PA AHS inspection was a RSF filly by GL out of an Equuleus/Grundspecht mare. Her name is Ghloria. The top filly at the large MD AHS inspection was by GL out of our own Alure (Armin/Eisenherz).
1999
At the American Hanoverian Society inspections in 1999, Gold Luck fillies were named the top filly at the Maryland inspection at Hilltop Farm and at the Louisiana site. The comments on the filly at the MD site were: "She really comes off the ground with the nice uphill movement we like to see. Very good rhythm and elasticity with freedom in the shoulder. This filly has already a good marching walk. She has a lot of what we desire-presence, substance, very nice frame and athletic ability. A very nice filly and the top filly of the day."
Four Gold Luck foals were presented at the Pennsylvania site. Although no top foal was chosen here, comments from the inspectors included, "He moves like a king and only out of courtesy does he touch the ground", "All were exceptional movers with exceptional conformation-very straight and correct", and "An elegant, impressive, big moving horse who will have a future in the dressage ring with the elevated, suspended movement that she shows". At the New Jersey Oldenburg-ISR inspection, a Gold Luck colt was named the top foal, receiving all 8's for movement, conformation, and overall impression, receiving the Premium Foal Award. Another colt in Kentucky received Premium Foal status, too.
In the show ring, Gold Luck offspring did very well in 1999. A filly won the yearling filly class at the Northwest Warmblood Breeder's Showcase, receiving a score of 81.8% from Hilda Gurney. The yearling gelding Ghuitar won his class at the ESDCTA Breed Show, and was named Reserve Champion Young Horse. He also placed 4th at the PVDA Breed Show. Another yearling gelding won 3rd place at the NEDA Breed Show.
2000
Our 2000 foal crop consisted of three colts (one by Gold Luck is good enough to be stallion quality), and three fillies. They are an excellent group! At the American Hanoverian Society inspection that took place at our new farm on August 11, the judges said it was the best foal crop they had seen on the tour and chose 5 top foals, 4 from Rolling Stone Farm and 2 by Gold Luck.
In the show ring, Ghotcha, 4-year-old gelding by Gold Luck won the suitable To Become a Dressage Horse class at the large New England Dressage Association Breed Show. Ghita, a two-year-old filly was Young Horse Grand Champion, and Senior Futurity Champion at the Northwest Sporthorse Breeder's Show in Washington State. She also won the Hanoverian Breed class. A filly was named the top Premium filly at the ISR inspection in NJ. Gheneva, owned and bred by us, was the Reserve Champion Young Horse at the Mid Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Mare Show in November 2000.
2001
At the second American Hanoverian Society inspection held at our farm, two Gold Luck fillies were in the call back fillies ring with one being named top filly of the day. She is spectacular! A Gold Luck colt was in the call back colts ring. Comments made by the judges include, "The thing we've seen with these Gold Luck foals is that they really come from behind and lift themselves up. He puts a powerful hind end on the horses-very pleasing to see." "Another very extraordinary mover by Gold Luck." "When do we see any bad ones, Mo?" "As you've seen, all of the Gold Luck foals have a power-pack from behind. They move really well, really elastic." All seven of the Gold Luck foals from our 2001 foal crop were purchased by happy buyers.
Winning ways continued in the show ring. Ghee Whiz, by Gold Luck out of a pre-studbook HN- TB cross mare won at recognized shows at training and first level, with scores as high as 70%, and was fourth (64.41%) in his Regional Finals at First Level-his fourth recognized show! Ghotcha is showing at second level and has won every class entered with scores as high as 68%. Ghita won her first time out at training level and was second in her Materiale class.
2002
Well, our 6 year record of never attending a Hanoverian Inspection without having a Gold Luck foal named as top foal continues. This year it was a Gold Luck filly out of our Elite Mare candidate Whispre (Weltmeyer/Brentano II). It was also really exciting because the reserve top colt was out of a Gold Luck daughter we had kept for our broodmare band. There were 20 foals presented at our site. It was one of the largest groups of foals on the tour. We are very proud of our new homebred Elite Mare Candidate named Ghrenadine. She is out of State Premium Dementia (Davignon/Matcho). She tied with another RSF mare for high score with a 7.5 and passed her mare performance test after only being under saddle 75 days! In addition, the high score colt at Honey Locust Farm in NC was by Gold Luck, and a premium Oldenburg-ISR foal was named reserve champion at the Oldenburg Farm inspection in MI.
Ghotcha, mentioned above continues in the winner's circle at major eastern seaboard shows, now at second level. Gibralter was show high score with a training level test at the huge spring DG Bar show in CA. Grande I Am was winning in training level for his recently-returned-to-riding-amateur owner, qualifying for the CBLM finals. Ghlenlivet won at training level at his very first show, the very first time off the farm. And he is still a stallion! We get letters and phone calls from happy owners all the time, telling us of their happiness and successes.
2003
This was a banner year for horse show success. Gold Luck was listed at #25 for the USEF dressage sires list. He is in fourth place among domestic Hanoverian stallions. Two of his get were winners under saddle this year at Dressage at Devon, trained and ridden at the show by our Rolling Stone Farm trainer. Ghita won the mares under saddle class, was second in the mare materiale and fourth in the FEI 5 year olds class. Ghuitar (bred by RSF) won the stallion and gelding class, was fourth in the stallion and gelding materiale, and was champion at first level and FEI champion at two recognized dressage shows. Ghlenlivet (bred by RSF), a 4 y.o., received scores as high as 81.9% at training level and received rave reviews after being used as a demonstration horse at the 2003 USDF dressage symposium. He was mentioned in two national magazine articles. Ghotcha (bred by RSF) was reserve champion at third level for region 2. GRande I Am finished in 2nd Place for the USDF All-Breeds Awards for AHS for 1st Level Freestyle. He was named reserve champion at the Region 1 Championships. He also took 6th place in both 1st Level Adult Amateur and 1st Level Freestyle at BLM this year. He was part of the 1st Place team at the Region 1 Adult Team Competition this year (riding for ESDCTA) where individually he and his amateur rider took Champion for 1st Level. For year-end awards, they were Champion for 1st Level Freestyle and 3rd for 1st Level (not shown above 2nd level) for ESDCTA. There are other successes, too, with horses owned by professional and amateurs alike.
At the large AHS inspection this year, Gold Luck daughters kept by RSF proved their ability to produce wonderful movers. A colt out of EM Giadonna was named top colt and a filly out of Ghloria was named reserve tip filly. Another elite mare candidate was named - Gharbo - who had only been under saddle for 90 days.
2004
Gold Luck is again listed as #25 for the USEF dressage sires list. He is in third place among domestic Hanoverian stallions. The two domestic Hanoverians ahead of him are from earlier birth years and are now deceased. At our AHS inspection this year, the Gold Luck daughters are proving their worth. This year’s top filly was out of the new Elite Mare Gharbo. The second reserves were from Gold Luck- one was a direct daughter and the other was out of an EM daughter. A new Gold Luck Elite Mare was named, based on her high jumping scores. Her name is Ghloria, and she was bred by RSF. Granville Hall, a colt by GL, was named the top colt at the 2004 AHS OK inspection. Hilltop Farm had chosen GL to breed to their Langata Express xx mare and the resulting filly (a keeper for their breeding program) was selected as co-top filly at their AHS inspection. A Gold Luck foal was named reserve champion at the ISR inspection in NJ, receiving a premium award. In the competition ring, Ghlenlivet was champion at the Region 1 Finals in Ffirst Level and First Level Freestyle. He never lost a class all season! He is second in the USDF All Breeds Award for the AHS for First Level (12th USDF Horse of the Year nationally- 71.714%). He placed first in the USDF All Breeds Award for the AHS First Level Freestyle (3rd USDF Horse of the Year nationally-76.563%). Making a GL clean sweep, Golden Gift, out of a Wertherson mare, was the champion in the USDF All Breeds Award for the AHS for First Level (9th USDF Horse of the Year nationally- 72.037%). Ghotcha moved up to fourth level with many wins. Grande I Am continued winning for his amateur rider, now at second level. He was the ESDCTA champion at second level and second level freestyle. He is fourth in the AHS All Breeds awards for second Level Freestyle. Gladstone qualified for both of his regional finals at training level and also at first level. His amateur rider says he is the best horse she has ever ridden. Ghita is winning with scores in the 70% range with a junior rider. Other winners under saddle include Gold Standard, Ghadabout, Ghuitar, and Gibson Girl. Gift Tax, a 5 year old, is competing successfully in Level 2 jumpers in Ocala, FL. In the Dressage Sport Horse Breeding division, Ghemstone (bred by RSF) placed 7th USDF Horse of the Year- 2 year old fillies, 3rd for the AHS All Breeds Awards Young Horse- Fillies Division. Ghlycerine (bred by RSF) was 23rd USDF HOY and Ghradine (bred by RSF) was 26th USDF HOY for 2 year old fillies. Ghuyana (bred by RSF) was 6th USDF HOY- 3 year old fillies and was 13th for the AHS All Breeds Awards Young Horse- Fillies Division.
2005
Gold Luck is listed as #21 for the USEF dressage sires list. He is in 4th place of all domestic Hanoverian stallions, second among those still living. He is listed as the 4th highest producer of dressage sport horses in hand. I am listed as the 3rd highest ranked breeder of dressage horses and the 3rd highest ranked breeder of dressage sport horses in hand, based entirely on Gold Luck’s offspring. In the USDF rankings, Ghlycerine, by Gold Luck out of EM Whispre (Weltmeyer/Brentano II), bred by Rolling Stone Farm is ranked 6th for 3 year olds in the Dressage Sport horse breeding category. She was Show Grand Champion at both June Morven Park (VA) Breed shows, and also at Dressage at Lexington (VA). At Dressage at Devon, she was 3rd in three-year-old fillies behind the Champion and Reserve mares, 5th in the Cosequin Finals and winner of the Born in the USA award for three-year-old fillies. Ghalewind was fifth in the two-year-old fillies class. Ghalewind, by Gold Luck out of Piper (Pablo/Weltmeyer), also bred by RSF, is ranked 14th in the two year old Dressage Sport horse breeding category. Ghambade (Gold Luck/ Trapper/Kurier-formerly known as Ghroucho), bred by RSF is 18th in the USDF Horse of the Year for Training level (4th for the American Hanoverian Society All Breeds Award) with an average of 72.692%. He is tied for 4th place in the FEI Five Year Old division with an average score of 7.8.
Ghlenlivet (see above) is again nationally ranked by the USDF. With an average of 70.270%, he is 5th for HOY at second level and 2nd for the American Hanoverian Society All Breeds Award. At Hanoverian inspections this year, Ghlycerine was the high score HN mare at the RSF inspection with a score of 7.83. Gold Luck produced two more Elite Mare Candidates- Ghamma Ray out of an Archipel/Askan mare, bred and owned by RSF, and Gaudenzia, out of an Absatz mare who received 7.5 for jumping and an 8 for rideability. Ghamma Ray received two 9’s for her jumping, putting her tied for the top score in free jumping for the AHS, along with an 8 for rideability. The top colt at the AHS RSF inspection was out of a Gold Luck mare, proving once again his worth as a broodmare sire.
2006
GHAMBADE was fourth at the 2006 USDF/Markel Young Horse National Championship in the FEI six-year-old test, ridden and trained solely by his owner. EMC Ghlycerine was multiple times Breed Show Grand Champion again in 2006 and was second at DAD for the USDF Sporthorse Breeders Championship, receiving the Born in the USA award for the second year in a row. She is also ranked fourth nationally in the four- and five-year-old mare Materiale, ridden by her amateur rider. Ghypsy, Gholfer, Ghalewind and Ghenoa were winners in the breed show ring. EMC Ghamma Ray was the co-recipient of the 2005 AHS Benchmark Award for the highest MPT jumping score, and earned the fourth-highest score of that year. Ghuatamala and Ghenoa were Champion Hanoverian mares at the large 2006 PA and MAHB inspections with a scores of 7.61 and 7.55. Ghuyana also became Elite Eligible and EMC Ghrenada received an 8.5 for jumping in her MPT. Ghlenlivet is winning at Third Level, again in the USDF top fifteen nationally. Ghibralter, as a three-year-old, was High Score at his only two dressage shows.
To date, Gold Luck has produced 4 Elite Mares (Ghloria, Giadonna, Gaudenzia, and Gharbo) and 4 Elite Mare Candidates (Ghlycerine, Ghrenadine, Ghamma Ray, and Ghranada) for the American Hanoverian Society. All except Gaudenzia were bred by RSF. Rolling Stone Farm’s broodmare band now proudly consists of 14 Elite Mares, and 3 Elite Mare Candidates. All but two of these were inspected as three year olds and performance tested by us, usually as green broke three year olds.
