Champion of the Mare Performance Test at the MAHB inspection and winner of the MAHB silver cup trophy!
Whindlass went to the MAHB Mare Performance test on Nov. 4-6th, 2006. This was her first time off the property and she was super. In the free jumping chute, she knew her job and received a 7 for technique and a 7.5 for ability. In the under saddle portion, she received and 8 for rideability, 7.5 for walk and trot and 8 for canter. Her final score was a very good 7.64. She is a new Elite Mare Candidate! I will post photos as soon as I get them. She is very quiet and easy to ride with enough movement to win in the hunter ring or the dressage ring. She shows a hunter-type form and ability in the free jumping chute.
A high score at her inspection- 7.44! Whindlass was presented for her studbook inspection at our July AHS inspection. She received a very high score of 7.44 with 9's for frame and typiness and femininity, and 8's for neck and saddle position. All of her other scores were 7's. We had to withdraw her from the Mare Performance Test. She had fallen in free jumping practice the week before (over a cross rail, no less...just a bad step tripped her). She was a little sore in her knees and didn't pick up her legs over the jumps like she usually did. She looked a tad off in the trot, too, probably from being in the stall all night instead of out in the pasture, like usual. Well, if we still have her this fall, we will take her to the MAHB MPT and get it done then. Whindlass was named reserve top filly at her AHS inspection as a foal in July 2003. Her mother, EM Ghloria, bred by RSF, qualified for Elite Mare status at her mare performance test with high scores in the free jumping. Widmark won the bronze medal at the 2001 German Riding Horse Championships. Whindlass has very correct conformation and excellent movement, plus a friendly personality.

EMC Whindlass couldn't be better. She is starting lateral work (shoulders in, haunches in, half pass), and she continues to amaze us.
She is really a packer- an older horse in a young horse's body. See the video here of Lassie under saddle taken the second time our new trainer, Beth rode her:

We took both Ghranada and Whindlass to a dressage schooling show on June 10th. Lassie behaved wonderfully in the warm up ring. It was her very first time in a dressage ring with the low ring fence and the judge under a tent. She was a pro! In her first test- training level test two, she got a third place and a 63.57%%. In her second time in the ring, she did training level test 4 and got a third place with a 64.4%%. She was getting a little tired. We got pretty busy preparing two colts for licensing and two other mares for the MPT, so we haven't shown since. I think if she hasn't sold, we'll take her to some fall recognized shows. She is consistently working in a first level frame now and has strengthened a lot.
Feb. 2007- EMC Whindlass ended up in second place for the 2006 Walter Hartwig Prize. This AHS award is given to the best
of the young North American-bred mares who complete
both their inspection and the Mare Performance Test (MPT) in
their three- and/or four-year-old years. It is presented to the
mares who achieve the highest combined score in these
tests. I am proud to say that every year since this award's inception, RSF has had a mare in the top 5. One year, we owned the winner, EM Dew Berry.
