Another successful inspection and another new Elite Mare Candidate for RSF. This brings the total for the year of three EMC's out of three mares presented! Plus, we had a huge success for RSF bred horses at the MAHB mare show! Wyneth L was named High Score Hanoverian mare with a score of 7.67 at the inspection held on September 15 at Hedgeland Equestrian Complex in Waterford, VA. The next day, she received the high score for the Mare Performance Test with a 7.94, winning the neck sash and the MAHB silver cup trophy. To top it all off, our homebred two year old mare, Rheporter was named champion young mare and show grand champion. It was a great weekend!

The inspection at Hedgeland was the largest one of the year with 16 Hanoverian mares for inspection. Our breeding program was well represented with Glacier (Gold Luck/Piper) receiving a 7.0, making her elite eligible, and Ghone With the Wind (Gold Luck/Rhococo) being placed into the main studbook. Wyneth L. received a 9 for her head, 8's on saddle position, frame, conformation, typiness and femininity, walk and overall impression and development. Her final score was 7.67, a score which made her the Champion Hanoverian mare.
The award ceremony was made more fun because Wyneth's breeder, Pat Limage could share the spotlight with me. Thanks Pat for letting me buy her as a weanling. I have never regretted my decision!
There were also 11 non Hanoverian mares to be inspected, plus 14 fillies and 10 colts.
The next day started with free jumping of the 9 mares taking the mare performance test. Wyneth did great. Her form improved as the jumps got higher and she showed a lot of confidence in the chute, a result of schooling at home weekly. She received a 7 for form and an 8 for ability. In the under saddle portion held after the Mare Show, she showed a little bit of how green she was, but she managed an 8.5 for the walk, a 7.5 for the trot and canter, and an 8.5 for rideability, giving a total of 7.94. She was the winner of the performance test, receiving the neck sash. She also was the winner of the MAHB silver cup trophy for highest placing in the MPT by a MAHB owned mare. We got to bring the cup home with us again, since Whindlass was the winner last year. Wyneth's name will be engraved right under Windlass'. Wyneth is our farm's third new Elite mare Candidate for the year, out of three mares tested. Thanks to Tiffany for all of her good riding and hard work, and to Kristen, who is our helper extraordinaire!

The Mare Show was a success, too. We brough our homebred two year old filly, Rheporter (Royal Prince/EM Whispre) with us for her first ever trailer ride, her first time off the farm, the first time shown in hand, etc. She won her class, (being the only entry in the 2 year old fillies class), receiving a 1A premium. She then went on to win the Young Mare Championship and was named Show Grand Champion.
We were very proud of her. She can really move! She got a little impatient at the end of the day when we were trying to take phots, but all in all, I was very happy with how she handled everything. It was a good experience before taking her to Dressage at Devon the end of September.
It was a great show!
